In 1374, during a turbulent era when the rival imperial courts of the Southern Court and Northern Court continued their struggle for legitimacy, a young boy named Oniyasha is born into a family of sarugaku performers. He lives his days with a vague, unsettled feeling, quietly wondering: “Why do people dance?”
One day, he encounters a performance of truly “good” dance—and his life begins to change.
This is the beginning of the world of a beautiful young boy who would later create Noh theater and be known as Zeami.
