The demon king has been vanquished, and the triumphant hero party returns to their homeland before going their separate ways. Within this quartet - comprising the mage Frieren, the hero Himmel, the priest Heiter, and the warrior Eisen - fond reminiscences of their decade-long odyssey abound as the time to bid each other farewell approaches. However, for elves like Frieren, the passage of time unfolds at a different pace, and she bears witness to her companions gradually passing away, one by one.
In his final moments, Heiter arranges for a young human apprentice named Fern to become Frieren's responsibility. Driven by the elf's insatiable quest to collect a myriad of magical spells, this unlikely pair embarks on a seemingly aimless journey, revisiting the same places once traversed by the heroes of yesteryear. Along this path, Frieren must grapple with the regrets of missed opportunities to forge deeper connections with her now-departed comrades.
