After a certain incident, Rei Ningen, a former teacher in his late twenties/early thirties, developed a trauma around human relationships. He’s now a NEET, avoiding society and, above all, humans.
Yet one day, a job listing catches his eye: “We’re looking for teachers who care about their students.” Despite his resolve never to teach again, Rei applies on a whim—and surprisingly passes the interview, landing a position at a remote, nature-filled school in the mountains.
But there’s a catch: this school is for non-human girls who are training to become human!
Before him appear a mermaid, a werewolf, a rabbit girl, a bird girl…
Why do these girls wish to become human? And what is it about humans, and Rei in particular, that draws them?
This isn’t an isekai fantasy or a reincarnation story—it’s a slightly unusual school tale about a teacher and a group of non-human girls who long to be human. A “human” drama set in an extraordinary academy, where the teacher learns as much as the students do.
