In the novel The Lovely Princess, the secondary character Athanasia de Alger Obelia is one of the most tragic figures of all. Her mother died giving birth to her, and her father, Emperor Claude, never showed her an ounce of love. Longing for even the smallest shred of parental affection, Athanasia is ultimately framed for a crime and executed by the very father she adored.
When a modern-day woman from Korea takes some sleeping pills, she unexpectedly awakens in the infant body of Athanasia. Knowing the grim fate that awaits her, she vows to stay out of her tyrannical father's sight to avoid incurring his wrath. However, fate has other plans, and she crosses paths with him at just five years old. With her original plan quickly shattered, she sets out to win his affection, hoping to endear herself so thoroughly that he would never even think to harm her.
But as Athanasia’s journey unfolds, her plan is complicated by many forces at play—her biological “sister” Jennette Margarita, who yearns for a family of her own, power-hungry nobles seeking their own agendas, and a dark shadow from Claude’s past that threatens to destroy everything he holds dear.
