"You have one year left to live."
On her seventeenth birthday, the apprentice witch Meg Raspberry is suddenly told by her magical mentor, Faust, one of the Seven Sages of the Magic World and known as the 'Witch of Eternal Life,' that she has only one year to live. Meg is cursed with a "death sentence"—a curse that foretells her imminent death.
The only way to escape the curse and avoid death is to create the "Seed of Life," which grants immortality to whoever possesses it. The ingredients needed to create the Seed of Life are fragments of emotion—specifically, the tears of joy shed when people are happy.
"So, how many tears do I need to gather?"
"One thousand people's worth."
"...Huh?"
And so, Meg sets out on a journey to collect tears of joy, interacting with various people along the way. Her childhood friend and best friend, Fiene. One of the other Seven Sages, the 'Witch of Wisdom' Inori. The genius girl, Sophie, who, at the same age as Meg, is also one of the Seven Sages, known as the 'Witch of Blessings.'
This is the miraculous story of Meg Raspberry, a young and inexperienced witch who has been given one year to live.
